We are now set to expand to our third island, Jamaica base in Runaway Bay.

The Pool Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and proper operation of all swimming pools, spas, and related water features. This role ensures that water quality, equipment, and pool surroundings meet hotel safety, hygiene, and presentation standards to provide a safe and enjoyable guest experience while protecting the hotels reputation and compliance requirements.

Knowledge and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Technical certification or vocational training in pool maintenance, pump systems, or mechanical maintenance preferred

  • Knowledge of pool maintenance techniques, water chemistry, and pool equipment operation

  • Familiarity with local and industry pool regulations, health and safety standards, and best practices

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect and resolve pool-related issues proactively

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual work including bending, lifting, and working outdoors

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to pool and mechanical systems

  • Good communication skills to interact with team members and guests when required

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Experience:Previous experience as a Pool Technician or in a similar maintenance role. Hospitality or resort experience is an asset.

Function and Responsibilities:

Pool Maintenance and Cleaning

Conduct routine inspections of pool water, pool deck, furniture, and surrounding facilities

  • Test and monitor water chemistry including chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and water clarity

  • Adjust chemical levels safely and accurately as required

  • Vacuum and clean pools, removing debris and contaminants

  • Clean skimmers, strainers, and pool surfaces

  • Maintain and service pool filters, pumps, heaters, and dosing systems

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pump rooms and chemical storage area

  • Perform basic maintenance including minor repairs, lighting replacement, sealing, and painting

Equipment and Technical Maintenance 
  • Inspect pool mechanical systems and report defects

  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues

  • Coordinate repairs with Engineering team or external contractors when required

  • Ensure pool machinery and equipment are properly maintained and operational

Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations

  • Ensure compliance with local pool and public health regulations

  • Inspect safety equipment including life rings, rescue poles, signage, and first aid kits

  • Monitor pool area for hazards and report immediately

  • Support enforcement of pool safety rules to ensure guest safety

Communication and Record Keeping

Maintain accurate records of:

  • Water testing results

  • Chemical usage

  • Maintenance activities

  • Repairs and servicing

  • Communicate maintenance schedules, repairs, and closures to managemen

  • Coordinate with Front Office, Security, and Guest Services regarding pool operations and guest communication
