Junior Accountant (Bocobay Jamaica)
As Bocobay grows its operations in Jamaica, we are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to support our financial operations on the ground. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in getting the details right and wants to grow within a fast-moving Caribbean hospitality business.
You will be responsible for processing invoices and vendor payments, coordinating with our external payroll provider, maintaining owner accounts, supporting strata financial administration, and assisting with general bookkeeping. You will report to the General Manager of Bocobay Jamaica and the Finance Director in London, and work alongside our Aruba and Curaçao finance teams.

Your Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
- Processing invoices and arranging vendor payments accurately and on time
- Managing utility payments, maintenance invoices, and recurring property-related bills
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
- Maintaining organised records of all invoices and payment documentation
- Owner Finances
- Processing payments on behalf of property owners using our internal systems
- Keeping owner accounts up to date with accurate records of all property-related
- income and expenses
- Responding to routine owner queries regarding their property finances
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly owner financial statements
- Reconciling owner accounts and flagging discrepancies for review
Payroll Coordination
Note: You will not own payroll directly — this is a coordination role working with an external payroll provider.
- Liaising with the external payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely fortnightly and monthly payroll processing
- Providing timekeeping and HR data from ConnectTeam and other internal systems to the payroll provider
- Conducting joint payroll verification checks with the HR Manager to review all payroll summaries for accuracy, including salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions prior to final submission to the payroll provider
- Ensuring payroll payments and related tax remittances are made on time
- Maintaining payroll records and resolving discrepancies with the provider
Strata Financial Administration
- Working with the Strata Manager on strata bookkeeping and financial administration for a small strata of approximately 30 units.
- Providing financial oversight of strata accounts, reviewing entries for accuracy and completeness.
- Reviewing strata fee charges and ensuring timely payment on behalf of property
- owners.
- Assisting with the preparation of strata financial reports and budgets
- Acting as a point of contact between Bocobay and Strata Management for financial
- queries.
- Flagging any discrepancies or concerns in strata financial records to the Finance Director
- Coordinating with the external auditor for the annual strata audit
General Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using accounting software
- (QuickBooks Online)
- Performing regular bank reconciliations across all local accounts
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assisting with the preparation of management reports and financial summaries
- Collaborating with external accountants and auditors as needed
Reporting & Collaboration
- Working closely with the operational team in Jamaica on daily financial matters
- Coordinating with your counterpart in Aruba for best practices and consistency across jurisdictions
- Reporting to and receiving support from the General Manager of Bocobay Jamaica and the Finance Director in London
- Bocobay Jamaica is a growing operation, so responsibilities may expand as we scale. As an early employee, you will have the opportunity to grow with the company and take on more responsibility over time.
What We Look For:
- 2+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, or general accounting and payroll processes
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and processing high volumes of transactions accurately
- Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks Online preferred) and confident with Excel
- Experience with accounts payable processing and basic reconciliations
- Experience coordinating with external payroll providers is a plus
- Exposure to property management finances is a plus but not essential
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
- Ability to build trust quickly with internal and external stakeholders
