Job Description:
Bocobay is revolutionizing hospitality through innovative, tech-powered service and inspiring, thoughtfully designed accommodations combined into one seamlessly managed experience. Launched in 2020 in Aruba, Bocobay is a private-equity backed business bringing a new standard to the Caribbean vacation rental market. We are now set to expand to our third island, Jamaica base in Runaway Bay.
The lifeguard will be responsible to monitor all guests closely to identify potential hazards or risky behaviors. Engage with guests to remind them of safety rules, explain pool regulations, and answer any questions about the facility.
Knowledge and Requirements:
- Valid NEPA Lifeguard Certification and Royal Life Saving or equivalent license
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Knowledge of pool, beach, and open-water rescue techniques
- Ability to recognize hazards and respond quickly to emergencies
- Understanding of water safety rules, emergency procedures, and local regulations
- Ability to assess weather and water conditions and restrict activities when required
- Competent in the use of lifesaving and rescue equipment
- Strong communication skills and ability to enforce safety rules
- Physically fit and able to perform water rescues
- Willingness to attend ongoing training and safety drills
Experience:
Atleast 1-2 years of previous experience required
Functions and Responsibilities:
Prevent Accidents
Monitor all guests closely to identify potential hazards or risky behaviors (e.g., running around the pool, idle frolicking in the ocean, diving in shallow areas).
Rescue Operations:
Be ready to respond quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency (e.g., drowning or injury) with the appropriate rescue techniques and equipment.
Supervise Water Activities:
Ensure that guests follow pool and water safety rules (such as no swimming alone, no diving in shallow areas, etc.
Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates the company emergency action plan as required.
Supervises swimming activities at the facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger, enforce pool and beach regulations and water safety policies.
Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe.
Contacts appropriate persons in case a situation escalates beyond their expertise.
Attend bi-monthly Water-Rescue training sessions.
Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hours
